Austinite Brendan Puthoff, owner of Third Base and Barcelona, announced today that he along with partners Nate Howry and Mason Wheeless have taken over Hickory Street and after a heavy renovation plan to open the iconic restaurant in February 2012. Classically trained Chef Camden Stuerzenberger (Bess Bistro, Walton’s Fancy & Staple) has been hired as head chef and will create a menu that focuses on locally sourced ingredients.
“8th and Congress is in desperate need of great food options, and we are so excited to restore Hickory Street to its former glory,” says owner Puthoff. “The menu is fresh and locally sourced. Folks will be able to sit on the new patio, one of the best in Austin, for happy hour or grab lunch and go.”
Hickory Street will be open for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner. Hours will be 7:00am to 10:00pm seven days a week and include casual patio dining with counter service as well as amazing take-out options during the day and full service for happy hour and dinner.
Sample menu items include, carrot & coriander salad, gluten free fried chicken, roasted wild mushroom benedict and smoked lox.
The covered patio will be returned to its original beauty by opening it up to the skyline and the amazing 100-year-old trees surrounding the property. Guests can enjoy a full bar that includes wine splits to sip on the patio and buckets of beer on ice, to name a few, all in the heart of downtown Austin.
Hickory Street is located at 800 Congress Ave. For updates, go to www.hickorystreet.com or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
