If you've never heard of us, then welcome
to Austin!!
Hickory Street Bar and Grill Patio

(we need to bring you up to speed, and quick!)
When you look around and see Austin's own, "Leslie" (the one on the left) hanging out on our patio, you know you're at Hickory Street. Sure, we could've put Ron Paul, Eddy Izzard, Cedric the Entertainer,
Vanessa Hudgens, and many other "names"that
Lesliecall Hickory Street home when they're in town, so why in the hell would we put a homeless man who dresses up like a lady hugging one of our servers on our Home page? Well, if you don't know about Leslie, then you don't know about Hickory Street, which means you don't know too much about Austin (the real, old Austin) and, well, nothin' else really matters after that point.

Believe it or not, Hickory Street and this man who dresses like a woman and ran for Mayor once share a surprising amount in common. First off, we both have ties in politics: Leslie's I've already mentioned, but did you know that Hickory Street sits on the original Capital grounds? Yep, it was once here before it was there.

Second, both of us have been around forever: We've been around for almost 30 years, Leslie....as long as anyone can remember.

*We're both unique to Austin: There is only one Hickory Street. There is only one Leslie.

*We both sell merchandise: We sell T-shirts, Leslie sells refrigerator magnets.

*And probably most important: We each, in our own way, represent why Austin is "weird." Neither one of us are

polished or refined, but we enrich, give back, and are deeply involved in the community; doing our parts to keep the "weird" in Austin.

So what is Hickory Street known for (besides providing a cross dresser with Rumplemintz)? Cheap beer ($2-$3 anything in the house during happy hour 4-7), $1.00 Breakfast Tacos M-F, the best 1/2lb, 100% pure Angus hamburgers in Austin, and of course our giant, all you can eat salad, soup, potato, and sundae bars. We serve four soups every day from a list of over 30, all of which we make from scratch. We also have an amazing brunch on Sundays with Super Cheap Mimosas and a Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar.

We're a forum for musicians, poets, and whoever else wants to get on our stage, plus we employee high school stuor musicians, poets, and whoever else wants to get on our stage, plus we employee high school students with special needs, Goodwill kids, donate food and money to Austin Sunshine Camps, are active with the Downtown Austin Alliance, YMBL, and have the longest mural on Congress. Oh, and we're the only restaurant that makes it snow for the annual Holiday Stroll!

-My name is Colin, and I want to welcome you to our family!
